Victor Valley College Aviation Maintenance Technology Program

The VVC Aviation Program is the result of a collaborative effort including the College, City, County, and Industry leaders. Under the Victor Valley Aviation Education Consortium (VVAEC) all stakeholders have come together to make this training and employment opportunity available in the High Desert. Over $700,000 has been donated by City, County, and State officials to renovate classrooms, create lab spaces, and fully equip the labs according to FAA specifications.



APPLICATION

All prospective students may apply to the college at any time. This is the same application process for all VVC students. At this time there is no special or separate application required for the Aviation Program.


REGISTRATION

Registration will not be available until classes are scheduled – pending FAA and Chancellor’s Office approval.


PRE-REQUISITES

There are no pre-requisites listed for the aviation classes. It is recommended – but not mandatory - for students to have some basic understanding in Math, Physics, and Electronics. Mechanical ability is also a plus.


COST

Current community college enrollment fees for California residents are $20 per unit. There are 8 aviation classes each consisting of 7 units. That is $140 per class or $1,120 for enrollment fees. Books should average $50 - $75 per semester.


CALENDAR

The VVC Aviation Program will not follow the existing college calendar. This will be a year round program that will take a minimum of two years to complete.


LOCATION

All classes and labs will be held at Southern California Logistics Airport (formerly George Air Force Base).


CERTIFICATION

Successful completion of the classes does not guarantee students FAA certification. Students will have to take FAA written, oral, and practical (hands-on) tests to obtain FAA certification. Information about the certification process will be included within the curriculum.


JOB PLACEMENT

Victor Valley College cannot guarantee job placement for students. Information about employment opportunities will be made available to students.
